The Art Of Writing Effective CTA’s

Calls to action are a very powerful tool in marketing. They draw readers in, give more clarity to your audience, and ultimately create more effective marketing campaigns. As important as they are, it’s surprising that only few know how to write successful CTAs. The thing is, in today’s world, people are faced with a constant stream of stimulus. Content can behave more like advertising, asking people to do everything from like a post, tag a friend, or head to the store to buy the latest product. So, if consumers of media have thousands of choices and calls to action to respond to, what is going to make them choose yours? We can answer that! With a little help from Serene Mktg, you’ll transform the way you write CTAs and create action with your target audience.

Set Your Intention

What goal are you trying to achieve? Do you want to boost sales? Drive more traffic to your site? Make sure that your goal is clear and achievable. It is important that you set your intention and goal set before you write your call to action. If you’re confused, your audience are sure to be confused. Keep in mind this goes for any digital marketing you’re doing – know your intentions and stick to them.

Use Strong Words

Think about what would inspire you to take action. Would you respond to the phrase “click here?” Or would you respond to “Join our community and discover your best life”? Personally, I would respond to the latter. Let’s deconstruct that phrase. It is a powerful CTA in the digital marketing world for a few reasons:

  1. Using words such as “your” make it seem as if you are talking directly to the reader. This creates the allure of a personal relationship.
  2. It uses strong action verbs such as “join” and “discover.” These will drive a greater emotional response from your reader than a simple “click here”
  3. People are greatly influenced by their core values. Use words that help align your brand with your target audience’s core values. Words such as “community” and “best life” target millenials who value belonging and experience over material goods.

Remove All Barriers to Entry

Some audiences are weary of internet calls to action. Sometimes things are just too good to be true! Keep in mind that older audiences tend to be more hesitant to respond to “scammy” looking calls to action. It can be helpful to emphasize the low-risk nature of your “ask.” For example you could say something like: “Join the tribe, leave anytime.”

Create a Sense of Urgency

The call to action should be the final instruction that you leave readers with. It should inspire them to respond to your plea immediately. Basically, give them a sense of FOMO! Make your audience feel like they will be missing out if they don’t respond to your instructions. This can be done by offering incentives or through the use of compelling language.

CTAs are an incredibly powerful tool that drive engagement and build brand loyalty. They are by no means easy to create. It will take a lot of time and effort to find what works best for your audience. However, if you follow our tips you are sure to find success!
